    Review: 'Quantum of Solace'

  • Movie review: Defiance -- 3 out of 5 stars

Defiance is, in too many ways to count, a defiantly old fashioned World War II Resistance movie. See the brave partisans ambush the Germans. See them hide in the forest between attacks. See them ruthlessly execute collaborators and make noble speeches...
  • 'American Idol' Bikini Girl got attention, but how does it compare?

All bikinis are notable, but some are more notable than others. While "American Idol" contestant Katrina Darrell, 20, a.k.a. Bikini Girl, made quite a splash this week by auditioning in a swimsuit, it takes more than a bare midriff to secure a place in...
  • 'Defiance'

No historically grounded film is obliged to stick to the facts, and having made "Glory," "The Last Samurai" and "Blood Diamond," in order of decreasing effectiveness, director Edward Zwick knows firsthand the difficulty of forging potentially uncommercial...

    Review: 'Defiance'
A Russian partisan commander looks dismissively at the Bielski brothers, eyeing tough Zus (Liev Schreiber) and tougher Tuvia (Daniel Craig) and proclaiming, "Jews don't fight." "These Jews do," comes the prompt reply, and "Defiance," the new film by...
