( Discovery Channel ) Durning was the only member of his unit to survive Omaha Beach during the landings in Normandy, France on D-Day. He fought in the Battle of the Bulge. He has more than 200 film and TV credits, including "The Sting," "The Best Little Whorehouse in Texas," "Tootsie," and most recently TNT's "Rescue Me." One of Durning's most powerful moments came during a 2007 Memorial Day Concert on PBS as he vividly recalled those harrowing hours on D-Day. |
