The TV Guy - Orlando Sentinel

  11. Is 'Downton Abbey's' middle child just like your family's?

And there was much rejoicing by British-TV obsessives: Connecticut's own CPTV celebrates its 50th year of existence with a gala of Edwardian proportions at Torrington's Warner Theatre on Saturday, starting at 5:30 p.m. For $60 a head, participants (encouraged to dress in period clothing) will drink from a smattering of wines, dine oh-so-elegantly on hors d'oeuvres (provided by the Litchfield Saltwater Grille) and politely view a presentation on Downton Abbey-era fashion, before plunking their Yankee hindquarters in preferred seats for the advance screening of the Downton Abbey, Season 3 premiere. (Common folks are also welcome, free of charge, but they still need to reserve ahead of time.) The show, written and created by Julian Fellowes, features an all-star cast (pictured). The DA season premiere will air on CPTV on Sunday, Jan. 6 at 9 p.m. The Warner Theatre is located at 68 Main Street in Torrington. For reservations visit warnertheatre.org or cpbn.org.
