50 years ago: Land bought for private, Catholic high school

As taken from the pages of The Aegis dated Thursday, June 7, 1962: The Catholic archdiocese purchased an 87-acre tract fronting Churchville Road, formerly Wagner's Farm, which would become the site of a new large Catholic high school. The new school would have a maximum capacity of 1,200 students, both girls and boys. Separate classrooms were planned for the boys and girls as well as separate buildings for members of the teaching staff. Approximately 22 acres would be developed for various athletic fields and programs. The plan was to have the school open in the fall of 1963.
