  1. 'The Real Housewives of Orange County' recap: 'Cabin Fever'

Last week in the O.C., Sarah had a meltdown, Tamra downsized to itty-bitties, and Jim had a "come to Jesus" dinner with Alexis. And Jesus told Jim to tell Alexis to quit Fox 5. Turns out Jim may not be that far off — tonight’s episode may actually signify the Second Coming because Vicki finally admits she owes someone 50 percent of an apology, and the ladies spend the night somewhere other than a Ritz-Carlton hotel. I believe these are the first two signs of the Apocalypse.

So, this now makes the preceding movie "The Next-to-Last Exorcism"? Ashley Bell is back as the woman who needed the devil driven out of her last time ... and since there's a sequel, you can guess that effort wasn't completely successful. She's trying to...

  5. Black Rock': When camping trips collide, bad stuff ensues ★★ 1/2

"Black Rock" pits three women, camping on a remote island off the coast of Maine, against a trio of U.S. Army veterans back from messed-up tours of duty in Iraq and Afghanistan. This is where we find ourselves with the legacy of America's Iraq invasion: Apparently enough years have passed, coinciding with the proper quota of well-meaning screen portrayals of psychologically and/or physically damaged military personnel, so that a movie just out for a jolt or two can go the "crazed Vietnam vet" route with impunity. But with a more recent war.

  19. TV review: 'Hemlock Grove' wallows in its own fake guts

Back when I was young and the world was new and only one kid we knew had a (very small, black-and-white) TV in his room, my cousins, my brother and I used to put on plays in the basement. We were big fans of "Night Stalker," so these were often quite violent plays, involving pentagrams, blood rituals and monsters constructed with whatever we had on hand &mdash; my mother's old hula skirt got a lot of use, as did her sheared raccoon coat, a ratty old "That Girl" wig and the fake blood we breathlessly purchased with Our Own Money from the back of comic books.

  21. 'Hemlock Grove' review: Binge, then purge

Roman Godrey, the wealthy, weird teen played by Bill Skarsgard on "Hemlock Grove" (<em>April 19 on Netflix; 1.5 stars out of 4</em>), tokes the marijuana he sells to fellow high school students. That might be the key to understanding the 13-episode horror mashup.

  23. Netflix tries to build on in-house brand with 'Hemlock Grove'

&mdash; The fireflies in this coastal Ontario town had begun to materialize over the estate's sprawling lawn. Inside a macabre-looking residence, the actors Famke Janssen and Bill Skarsgard slipped through elegant rooms and chilly corridors, a bone-creepy tableau that might be described as "The Addams Family" meets Guillermo del Toro. Her voice musical but no-nonsense, Janssen issued an order to Skarsgard; he responded by trying very hard to look aloof.
