5. It's cool to get your geek on today

If you are more Howard or Sheldon from "The Big Bang Theory" than Will Smith or Steven Tyler, know all the lines to the original "Star Wars" movies, are more enamored with Ferengi than Ferraris and think of the programming language before a cuppa when you hear "java," then go on and let your geek flag fly. It's Geek Pride Day.

  7. Feedback: If you could dine with an author, who would it be?

Definitely Christopher Fowler, who writes the "Peculiar Crimes Unit" and "Bryant & May" series. He has such a great sense of humor and knows so much about the history of London. His books are so much fun to read.

  11. Allentown bicycle plan would eliminate traffic lanes

Q: Allentown seems to be pushing forward with proposed bicycle-lane 'improvements' that concern many residents and businesspeople along the affected routes. Officials want to eliminate traffic lanes on parts of Linden and Turner streets, which would be bad enough any time, but will cause gridlock when hockey arena traffic is added. I think the city has dramatically underestimated the effects of these bike lanes on traffic flow and parking availability. Many more motorists will be affected negatively than bicycle riders who will benefit. The public has to get involved with this before the city goes too far with it. Can you help us get the word out?

  13. Nothing like death to liven up a European tour

If you're looking for the macabre side of Europe, skip the hokey rip-off "torture museums" and visit a cemetery — they're authentic, artsy and oozing with history. In honor of Halloween, here is a list of some of my favorites.
