Joseph L. Borowy, a retired administrator with the Social Security Administration who pitched in the minor leagues and was a standout Patterson High School athlete, died of brain cancer Aug. 4 at Gilchrist Care Towson.
He was 70 and had lived in Timonium and Perry Hall.
Born in Baltimore and raised on Shakespeare Street in Fells Point, he was the son of Joseph Borowy, a Bethlehem Steel worker, and his wife, Veronica who operated a grocery store.
He was a 1965 graduate of Patterson High School, where he was a star pitcher on the school’s baseball team. He once pitched a no-hitter against Baltimore Polytechnic Institute.
