Loyola College in Maryland is a Catholic liberal arts school located in Baltimore. Founded in 1852, the school was named for St. Ignatius Loyola, who founded the Jesuit order of Catholic priests. Loyola is also a Division I school, and the Loyola Greyhound athletic teams compete in eight sports in the Metro Atlantic Athletic Conference. Student activities include the Greyhound newspaper, WLOY radio station, a student government, two literary publications, a commuter students' association, a cappella and chorus groups, cultural groups, and professional and service organizations. Famous Loyola alumni include author Tom Clancy, sportscaster Jim McKay and CIGNA CEO and chairman H. Edward Hanway.
