The North Carolina State Board of Elections is supporting an early voting plan that excludes the campus of Winston-Salem State University.
The Winston-Salem Journal reports (http://bit.ly/20NLVrr ) the board on Wednesday voted 3-2 to approve an early voting plan approved by the local board's Republican majority.
That plan excludes early voting for the March 15 primary at the historically black school.
State board members noted that the school had not been an early-voting location in 2014. Chairman Grant Whitney said he worried that putting an early voting at the school might lead every other college to want early voting.
