Janet E. "Jan" Turner, who was director of Kennedy Krieger Institute's speech-language and assistive technology Department, died May 15 of cancer at her Ruxton home. She was 63.
The daughter of Thomas Turner, a mechanical engineer, and Jane Turner, a special-education teacher, Janet Elaine Turner was born in Pittsburgh and raised in Monroeville, Pa., where she graduated from Gateway High School.
She earned a bachelor's degree in 1975 in speech-language pathology and audiology from Indiana University of Pennsylvania.
