Social media eroding civility

Being an old fogey nearing four score and nine years on this earth, I become more and more puzzled by the actions of the younger generations (one score and 10 or younger). For the most part they are far more technically advanced than I will ever hope to be, and I think that that may be the root of the problem. The proliferation of social media outlets seems to have caused what used to be called "common sense" to not be so common any longer. Young adults, teens and even younger children have unfettered access to social media where they often post photos and written messages that are, at minimum, not normally acceptable in what would be known as polite society.
