C.M. 'Mike' Maskell, retired Navy civil engineer

Charles M. "Mike" Maskell, a retired Navy captain who headed naval engineering projects, died of Parkinson's disease complications Sept. 30 at his Riverside, Calif. home. The former Northeast Baltimore resident was 77.

Born in Baltimore, he was the son of Charles Leo Maskell, who owned a religious goods business, and Dorothy Siegrist.

He attended the Shrine of the Little Flower School and was a 1956 Baltimore Polytechnic Institute graduate. He earned his bachelor's degree at the Naval Academy, where he was a member of the 11th Company. He was commissioned an ensign in 1960, and was initially a combat information officer aboard the USS ORLEC.
