Roger L. Griffin Jr., a mechanical engineer and businessman who was the founder of Marine Hydraulics Systems, died Monday of heart failure at Sinai Hospital.
The Mays Chapel resident was 84.
The son of Roger L. Griffin Sr., a mechanical engineer, and Mary Griffin, a homemaker, Roger Lewis Griffin Jr. was born and raised in Salem, Mass.
He was a 1950 graduate of Marblehead High School in Marblehead, Mass., and earned a bachelor's degree in 1954 in mechanical engineering from the Massachusetts Institute of Technology.
Mr Griffin served in the Army from 1955 to 1956 and was discharged with the rank of lieutenant.
