  • Terps baseball tops No. 11 N.C. State in first three-game ACC sweep since 2009

Maryland completed its first three-game Atlantic Coast Conference sweep since May 2009 as it downed visiting No. 11 North Carolina State, 5-2, on Sunday. Five Terps scored, and pitchers Tayler Stiles and Bobby Ruse (C. Milton Wright) combined to allow one run on six hits in 62/3 2/3 innings. Maryland (16-6, 5-4 ACC) took a 2-0 lead in the first inning off runs by shortstop Blake Schmit and left fielder Kyle Convissar (Severna Park), and the Wolfpack (14-8, 3-6) never caught up. "I was happy to see us play more consistently this weekend with our offensive approach, and our at-bats were tougher throughout the weekend," coach John Szefc said. "We've been pitching pretty consistently for a long time and playing pretty good defense."
