Robert P. Boner, a retired professor of mathematics whose career at what’s now McDaniel College spanned nearly four decades, died Thursday from pancreatic cancer at Carroll Hospice’s Dove House in Westminster. He was 77.
“He was a very kind man who had no pretense and was passionate about teaching, the college and about its place in the community,” said Dr. Italo Simonelli, former chair of the math department who still teaches at McDaniel.
“I was hired by Bob to take over the department,” he said. “He was a mentor to me when I came, and for many other faculty.”
