A Loyola University resident assistant and biology major was killed in a car accident Friday in Colorado, the university reported. Colleen Zirkle, a junior who was also majoring in chemistry, died after she was driving from Kansas to Colorado with her uncle, brother and cousin, when their vehicle hit ice and struck a tree, Loyola President Rev. Brian F. Linnane said in a message to Loyola students and staff. Zirkle and her uncle died while her brother and cousin were injured. Zirkle hailed from Derby, Kansas, and was active at Loyola, working as a DJ for WLOY radio and volunteering at a homeless shelter through Health Outreach Baltimore. She was a member of the crew team.
