Ann D. McKee, former Coppin State University registrar who later became a teacher and guidance counselor at several city high schools, died April 17 of multiple organ failure at her daughter's Catonsville home. She was 88.
The daughter of farmers Claude Steele and Mary Jane Campbell Steele, Ann Dell Steele was born and raised in Harmony, N.C., and graduated in 1946 from West Iredell High School in Statesville, N.C.
She earned a bachelor's degree in education in 1950 from what is now North Carolina Agricultural and Technical University. While a student at college, she met and fell in love with a fellow student, Johnnie McKee. They married in 1953.
