Preteens are notoriously moody, pouty and testy. The good news is, they turn funny. During the tweenage years, their sense of humor pops up. As brains develop and vocabulary expands, kids grasp and deliver puns, jokes and even satire. “These kids really make me laugh!” confessed a seventh-grade teacher from California during a time when I questioned teachers about why they chose to teach middle schoolers.
