Highlights

Long known as Rosary College, Dominican University is a private, Catholic liberal arts school in west suburban River Forest. It was founded in 1901 as an all-female school in Sinsinawa, Wisc., as St. Clara College by the Sinsinawa Dominican Sisters of the Most Holy Rosary. In 1922, it was moved to River Forest and its name was changed to Rosary College. Now a co-ed institution, it first admitted men in 1970. In May 1997, as part of an aggressive strategic plan, the name was changed to Dominican University.
