MEN: In its latest non-conference adventure, Hampton University fell into an early hole in Champaign, Ill., and lost 73-55 Wednesday to Illinois despite Dwight Meikle’s 12 points and seven rebounds. Kendrick Nunn scored a season-high 16 points for the Illini (8-3). Illinois jumped to a 27-11 lead, but Hampton (4-6) made a run behind leading scorer Quinton Chievous. The senior scored eight consecutive points on a 10-0 run. Illinois closed out the half as Nunn drilled a buzzer-beating 3-pointer to push the lead to 12. After missing his first two shots, Nunn made his next six, including four 3-pointers. Dating to last season, Nunn has reached double figures in eight of 13 games...
