The Chicago Sun-Times, one of two major daily newspapers in Chicago, is the flagship newspaper in the Sun-Times Media Group, which also owns an array of publications in the Chicago area. The company was known as Hollinger International Inc. when it was controlled by Canadian media baron Conrad Black through Ravelston Corp., a Canadian holding company. The Sun-Times had a succession of owners after it was sold to Rupert Murdoch in 1984 by Marshall Field IV, whose family had owned it for decades.
