1. ZZ Top epitomizes classic rock 'n' roll cool at Pier Six Pavilion

I am going to have to apologize because I do not have a setlist and I don’t really know the names of the songs but does that matter? ZZ Top is the longest running rock 'n' roll band with its original lineup in history and they certainly wouldn’t fault me or you or anyone for not knowing what their songs were titled. I feel that I could guarantee that if you cornered guitarist Billy Gibbons and asked him very specific questions about very specific songs he would be bored out of his beard and possibly, politely, move on to another conversation. No, actually he seems really nice and relaxed. This is my professional opinion: ZZ Top is cool. As a band, as individuals, their whole thing: It oozes cool. Not the flames and roses tattoo motifs of their T-shirts and video backdrops. Them. The very them of it is what makes them cool.

  5. A brief guide to Green Day

Before Green Day won over Broadway with an ambitious anti-war album, it was a simple-minded punk trio from Berkeley with an album called "Dookie" and song titles such as "Geek Stink Breath" and "Words I Might Have Ate."

  7. Rebel Wilson "exposed," Turbo Tax day fail and the NRA's Sprint Cup sponsorship turns deadly for one NASCAR fan

Rebel Wilson shines, confuses and titillates while hosting last night's 2013 MTV Movie Awards as tax-paying procrastinators struggled to submit their returns on a temporarily floundering TurboTax online. In gun control news, a sadly ironic turn of events took place at the first 500 Sprint Cup race sponsored by the NRA as a NASCAR fan shot himself in the head after an apparent argument with a fellow racing fan.

  9. Wiser and independent, Garbage's return to music a 'thrill'

In the mid- to late-1990s, Scottish singer Shirley Manson and her Wisconsin-based band Garbage were alt-rock darlings, MTV rotation regulars, platinum chart-toppers and a band that had little problem selling out headlining tours.

  11. 'Real Housewives of Beverly Hills' recap, Kyle's store opening drama

First, a disclaimer: I've been sleep-deprived since Saturday, so forgive me if I am not as adept on picking up on all of the shade this week. And with Kyle's store opening taking place in this episode, I'm sure there will be shade – in abundance.

  13. Clarification: Inside Lacrosse editor believes LXM Pro has been good for the game

In a story that ran in Sunday's Baltimore Sun (and here online), Inside Lacrosse editor John Jiloty was quoted expressing doubts about the LXM Pro lacrosse tour. Jiloty was actually discussing criticism he had heard from others in the industry, not expressing his own opinion of the operation. The Sun (and I) regret the confusion.

  21. 'Real Housewives of Beverly Hills' recap, Twerking to empowerment

Last night, I took another gander at the episode guide for this season of "Real Housewives of Beverly Hills," and realized this isn’t the last episode! We’ve got one more coming up. Plus, I forgot about the reunions, and reality show reunions are like the meat right near the bone – kind of gross, but full of flavor. That comparison works. I promise it does.

  23. Who is more evil Instagram or the NRA? Internet is undecided

After the past few days, America needs something to be mad at and quick. Luckily the NRA and Instagram have stepped in to help our rage cravings. The NRA has been unusually silent throughout aftermath of the Sandy Hook school shooting. Its Twitter accounts are collecting dust and its Facebook page has been shut down after pro-gun control commenters stormed the gates shortly after the shooting. In absence of them talking or defending themselves, they have become the perfect boogymen to vilify with impunity and the Internet has not passed up the opportunity.
