While European rival Airbus SAS gambled on a super-jumbo jet earlier this decade, Boeing correctly anticipated that airlines valued range and fuel-efficiency over aircraft size. The resulting product, the Boeing 787 Dreamliner, has garnered more than $100 billion in sales, although the company has suffered some production stumbles. The Dreamliner's first flight is set for late 2008.
