3. Girl Scouts thinking about Asia -- and a Bronze Award [Lutherville]

Our local Girl Scout Thinking Day, which was enjoyed by girls from Daisy Scouts through Seniors last month, was planned and executed as part of Junior Troop 2264's Bronze Award. The girls chose Asia as the theme, rather than a single country. According to leader Deb Baker, this was to teach all the Scouts that Asia is more than China and Japan. Among the special activities was an Indian dance, performed by the troop and taught to them by dance instructor Charuta Patil. The Scouts, who are fifth- and sixth-graders at Timonium Elementary School and the Montessori School, are Alexandra Angelos, Emma Chandler, Elizabeth de Guzman, Isabella Hodiste, Allison Horky, Ella Marcovsky, Sarah Martin, Kristen Metzler, Sierra Raspa and Lisa Sandson. Leaders are Deb Baker and Barb Chandler. The Bronze Award is earned by a troop and includes other requirements on which the girls are working. I'll be sure to let you know when the troop receives its award.
