    Connecticut commuters have it tough. I'm looking at some state stats, and we're drowning in cars. Two cars is the norm per family, and 14 percent have three. Each car travels 10,536 miles a year on average. Each driver is good for 11,166. No wonder there were 86 million vehicle miles traveled in 2006, and it's gone steadily up at a rate of about a half percent to two percent per year.
