  3. Smartphone on Your Dashboard? Don't Count On It

    KickingTires
I'm staring at a dashboard display that's been removed from a car and mounted on a table for journalists, investors and engineers to sample. On it is an enlarged version of a Samsung smartphone home-screen, plugged right into the "car."......

  5. Dishing on dining

Q: You have a pretty big audience of friends. I bet they have the some of the same questions for you that I have. When you eat out, do you go with a group of people? Do you order extra dishes just so you can taste them? Do you take notes while you are eating? Is this a journalistic perk? Do you take doggie bags home with you? Inquiring minds would like to know.

  7. San Francisco all wet in regatta deal

Stop me if you've heard this one: Billionaire comes to City Hall. Says that if the city will get behind him, he'll bring a major sports enterprise to town and might even renovate some decrepit municipal infrastructure as part of the bargain. Huge economic boost foreseen. Won't cost taxpayers a dime.

  9. Safer sexting is now a Snap

Just so we're clear, I stand foursquare against the practice of minors electronically transmitting photographs of their private parts. No exceptions. Not to one another. Not to strangers. Not by text. Not by Twitter.

  11. 'The Sessions' tells tale of the virgin's diary ★★★ 1/2

In 1990 the writer Mark O'Brien contributed an article for the literary magazine The Sun called "On Seeing a Sex Surrogate." A survivor of childhood polio, the substantially disabled O'Brien spent much of his sleeping and waking hours confined to an iron lung. Interviewing other disabled people for an earlier assignment, he realized his own sexual life — so dormant for so long — needn't stay that way forever. "Being disabled myself, but also being a virgin, I envied these people ferociously," he wrote in the 1990 piece.

Forty years have passed since the first theme-park guests walked up Main Street U.S.A. toward Cinderella Castle at Walt Disney World's Magic Kingdom. A lot has changed since Oct. 1, 1971, not the least of it being the cost of a ticket. Single-day...

  15. The most famous woman you've never met

    Cal Thomas
The hottest ticket on Broadway continues to be "The Book of Mormon," a musical that pokes fun at the Mormon faith in particular and Christianity in general. It is also full of profanity and blasphemy. If there was a show called "The Book of Muhammad," the...

  17. Progressive morality

    Robert Koehler
To what extent will progressive morality be a factor in the looming presidential election? Is it simply a nuisance? Will mainstream Democrats (yet again) cringe in its presence, disavow it, spout mostly Republican-lite platitudes about tough-guy...
