Norfolk State’s defense forced a season-high five turnovers, four in a 20-point first quarter, and the Spartans notched their second shutout of the season in a 30-0 Senior Day victory over Morgan State on Saturday afternoon at Dick Price Stadium.

 Nico Flores passed for 216 yards and two touchdown for the Spartans (4-7, 2-6 MEAC), who ended the season on a two-game win streak. The Bears (3-7, 2-5), who were held to 221 yards of offense, lost their fifth in a row.

A couple of missed extra-point kicks proved costly for Apprentice School (2-8) as the Builders lost their finale 13-12 at home to Webber International (4-6) of Florida.

Paul Morgan was 17-of-30 for 142 yards and a touchdown to lead the Builders, who blocked two Webber kicks. Morgan hit Rashawn Sims on a 7-yard scoring pass with 1:05 left, but a missed PAT and Webber’s recovery of an onside kick clinched the outcome. ...

Jonathan Sykes kicked five field goals to help Maryville beat Ferrum 22-17, keeping the Panthers from winning the USA South championship outright and ensuring that Christopher Newport would reach the Division III playoffs regardless of the Captains’ result -- which turned out to be a 30-29 loss to Methodist.
