Freshman Keenan Palmore had 12 points, seven rebounds and four assists Saturday night as Old Dominion beat Morgan State 72-61 in the Liberty Tax Classic at Constant Center.

Palmore was one of six Monarchs to score in double figures. ODU seniors Nick Wright and DeShawn Painter also had 12, while freshman Aaron Bacote from Bethel High, junior Donte Hill and sophomore Dimitri Batten from Kecoughtan High added 10 points each.
 
Senior co-captain Donte Hill's 3-pointer with 9:07 left put the Monarchs up for good, 48-47, and they slowly pulled away.

The result left the Monarchs and Bears at 1-1 entering the season-opening round-robin tournament’s final day. The Monarchs will play future Conference USA rival Texas-San Antonio at 2 p.m. Sunday, before Morgan State faces Holy Cross at 4:15.

Apprentice 103, Pittsburgh-Titusville 55

Senior Tevin Andrews scored 20 points to lead six Builders in double figures as the Apprentice School (2-0) cruised.

Apprentice used a 27-2 run over a 5:38 span of the first half to win on the final day of the Penn State Greater Allegheny USCAA Tipoff.

Women

Carlow 66, Apprentice 54

Carlow, from Pittsburgh, used a 10-0 run over a 3:45 span early in the second half to pull away from the Apprentice School for a victory in the Penn State Greater Allegheny USCAA Tipoff Tournament.

April McCoy was the leading scorer for Apprentice with 11 points, while Jasmine Pringle and Danita Whitaker added nine each.
