Taliaferro leads the Chanticleers (3-0) with 387 yards rushing and five touchdowns, and has four receptions for one TD. He was named the Big South Offensive Player of the Week following his 174-yard, three-touchdown rushing effort on Saturday in the Chanticleers 51-32 win over No. 25 Eastern Kentucky.
Taliaferro, a 6-foot-2 , 230-pound senior, is best known locally for rushing for 1,678 yards and scoring 21 touchdowns for the 2009 Bruton team that came within a whisker of winning the AA Division 3 state title. He jumps back into the local spotlight on Saturday because the Chanticleers host area FCS school Hampton University (0-3).
“Going against Hampton is going to be fun, because it is only 15 minutes away from home,” Taliaferro said. “I also have friends and family who are students and alumni, so I will have a great amount of support for this home game.
“The season is going good, how everyone on the offense expected because we worked so hard during the offseason. I think my season personally is going well, because I’m in shape, I know the offense well and I do my job.
“Doing your job takes care of the individual stats.”
