Acoustic rockers Hoots & Hellmouth are set to play Hampton's Taphouse on Sunday, Nov. 13. It will the band's first visit to the Queens Way pub.

Tickets are $8. Showtime is 8 p.m.

"This should be one of the highlights of the season," said Taphouse proprietor Peter Pittman, who saw the band play a music festival in Bristol two years ago. "I don't think they've played a room this small in awhile."

The Philadelphia-based band comes to town just having released a new album, "Salt." The disc, recorded with engineer Jon Low (Dr. Dog, Sharon Van Etten, Twin Sister) builds on the sound of the group's  EP "Face First In The Dirt."

Hoots & Hellmouth started to attract national attention after a triumphant appearance at the 2006 Philadelphia Folk Festival. The band was signed by the WEA-distributed Mad Dragon Records label and released a self-titled debut album in 2007.  "Holy Open Secret," followed two years later.

The band often plays with groups including Dr. Dog, Grace Potter and the Heartless Bastards.

Earlier in the day on Sunday, The Taphouse will host an art event called "A Wise Man Knows When."

Here's an explanation of the event from Facebook:

A Wise Man Knows When: A Visual Comparison of Contemporary Works

Joey Martin of Rocksteady Tattoo
Jonathan Blake of CrazyRedBeard Productions

Two hardworking artists who live what they do. Each has their own distinct style. Joey, having some graffiti practice in his early years, works with contour precision and premeditated subject matter. Jonathan's work is completely spontaneous in nature, as most of them are painted in front of a live audience.

$2 cover enters each guest in a chance to win a print selected by the artists, as well as a complimentary glass of wine and light fare.

$5 cover, in addition to that stated above, buys your ticket to the performance by Hoots and Hellmouth! Show's at 8.
