Pause for a Cause 2014

Pause for a Cause 2014 (Peninsula SPCA / June 18, 2014)

Care about homeless pets? Put your feet where your mouth is.

And your paws.

Humans and their furry companions are invited to sign up now for the annual Paws for a Cause Dog Walk 2014, a two-mile meander to raise funds to help keep the Peninsula SPCA in operation.

It’s set to begin at noon on Sunday, Sept. 21, at the Mariners Museum Park in Newport News. (Across from Warwick High School, where you can park.)

Until then, you can sign up -- and get your friends and family to sign up, too, or make a pledge.

According to the SPCA, their goal is $75,000 in registration and pledges; so far, they’ve raised $1,397 – but registration has only just begun.

The event will also include a festival with vendors, local animal rescue groups, a kids area with a bounce house, exotic animals from Busch Gardens, a “Woofstock” stage featuring 97.3 The Eagle, an agility course (presumably for dogs), a raffle, food, soft drinks, beer and wine.

When you register at www.firstgiving.com/peninsulaspca, you get an event T-shirt, goody bag, pledge packet, free personal web page, monthly fundraising tips and event updates.

And the satisfaction of knowing you’ve helped out local dogs, cats and other furry creatures till they find a forever home.
