Veterans to be honored with memorial poppies in Poquoson

POQUOSON - Starting Thursday, veterans may be honored with memorial poppies available at two Poquoson locations.

American Legion volunteers will distribute the poppies, made by veterans at the VA Hospital in Hampton, to honor both deceased and living veterans, according to a statement issued by the American Legion Auxiliary, Holloway-Moore Unit #273.

Poppies will be available May 22 through 24 from 8 a.m. to 6 p.m. at Farm Fresh and Taylor's Do It Center on Wythe Creek Road in Poquoson.

Memorial poppy contributions are devoted entirely to programs for veterans and their families, the statement said.
