The band's newest album, its third for the Chicago-based Bloodshot label, was released back in April. It's titled "Death of a Decade." Today's free track, "Made Example Of," comes from that disc.
It's yours in exchange for a small bit of personal information. More specifically, they want your active e-mail address. Got it? Good. Listen or download from the player below.
"Thematically, 'Death of a Decade' is less story-based than Ha Ha Tonka’s previous work (which pulled heavily from Missouri history and folklore for its lyrics), with the band now focusing on the transition into manhood—something that doesn’t automatically come once you pass a certain age," an official press release explains. Lead vocalist Brian Roberts sings “I realize that youth is wasted on the young," on “Westward Bound.” “Oh, I know that now my wasting days are done.”
The band is scheduled to play at the Hampton Taphouse on Tuesday, Sept. 6. Check 'em out if you like what you hear.
