Dave Fairbank has been a sportswriter and columnist at the Daily Press since Sept. 1984, which means he either likes it here or his career is woefully stalled. He was born in Baltimore, Md., in Sept. 1958 and grew up near Annapolis, Md. He graduated from the University of Maryland (Class of 1980), where his bachelor's degree in General Studies came with a Terrapins belt buckle and Lefty Driesell's autograph. He and his wife, Suzanne, live in Newport News and often dream of the beach.
