State reminds drivers to pay heed to Move Over law

Stay alert, Lake County drivers, and be ready to scoot out of the way. That's the word from the state the Department of Highway Safety and Motor Vehicles, which is reminding motorists this month about the Florida's Move Over law. It was enacted in 2002 to help protect law-enforcement officers, emergency workers and tow-truck drivers and was expanded last year 2014 to include sanitation and utility vehicles. The reason for the urgency? There were more than 130 traffic crashes involving Move Over law violations in 2013, resulting in two fatalities and 81 injuries, according to the agency.
