What has happened to the greatest Christian nation in history who now has fallen into an epidemic of "Hopelessness," what went wrong?
The Center for Disease Control & Health & Human Services, statistics shows that: (1). 22 million Americans (8 percent) of our population, suffer from severe depression with over 29,000 suicides yearly! (2.) In the U.S. it has been estimated that over 35 million people live in fear and anxiety! Dr. Luke wrote in (Luke 21:26) "Men's hearts failing them for fear, and for looking after those things which are coming on the earth!"
With over 150,000 Americans slipping into eternity everyday, and 5.6 million yearly, I've pondered over how many souls whose lives were wasted, and in their journey here on this planet never really found what they were searching for, as you look into their eyes and see emptiness as they lost hope!
Well Dr. Jim how did we, as Americans, lose hope? Let me give you just two examples.
First: We deserted our fundamental values in God, and began to trust our government for seeing us through the hard times instead of trusting our Creator! What hope can our government give us? In my last article I mentioned Obama's national adviser, and long time friend Valerie Jarrett. In Obama's last campaign, Jarrett came up with the theme of "Hope and Change" which had a secret meaning only known by the Chicago office. Their secret meaning was "We Hope that the stupid Republicans will change!" I have "lost hope" as a "Christian Advocate" for this reason: Listen up!
We gave the Muslim Brotherhood $1 billion of our taxpayers dollars to fight their cause in Egypt.
On April 7, 10 a.m. the "Coptic Christian Cathedral in Cairo" was attacked by the Muslim Brotherhood. Two Christians were killed. At the Christian funeral, held at 3 p.m. the Muslim Brotherhood came with machine guns and bombs, leaving four more killed, 1 beheaded and 400 injured with gun wounds! They call this act "Christian Genocide for Allah"...The Syrian Rebels. who we now are going to give $123 million of our taxpayer dollars to fight their cause in Syrian for the Muslim Brotherhood. Their cause is to wipe out all Christians: Take Note that on (May 7, 9 a.m.) Mr. Suwid, Syrian Rebel Leader, bragged in the Syrian newspaper how they killed "A large number of Christians who went into Martyrdom and thanked "Allah" for helping him in Christian Genocide!" Note: My question that I want to ask my readers is: (How can we, as a Christian nation, be giving money to support the killing of thousands of Christians in other countries and expect God not to chastise us? ) And all of you who have a "false hope" built up inside of you, will soon have a "great awakening!" I have no hope in our government!
Second: The strongest force we had in "The Great Depression" was not the banks for they crashed, not the government for they fell apart, because we lost hope in all our systems! The greatest force that carried us through the "Great Depression" and gave us all hope was the churches! The churches fed us fresh bread, clothed us, housed us, and comforted us with "Great Hope," and by establishing and renewing our morals we came back with a "New Hope" and within 20 years, we climbed to new heights!
Thank God for using His churches to restore us through his grace! Question? We Americans enjoyed the "fresh bread" during the Great Depression, but where is the "fresh bread" today?
The church is called the "House of Bread" The modern churches are like bakeries that are open, but have no bread to sell! "Jesus is the Bread of Life." All we do is have church around cold ovens, that used to bake fresh bread on a daily basis.
Now all we do is nibble on the crumbs of yesteryear's of what we've done and glory in the past, and have lost sight of the future! We still preach out of old literacy books that are a 100 years old and don't mean a hill of beans or the preachers used the stale bread taken from other ministers, and reheat the bread up in the microwave, and throw it to their flocks! 2 Timothy 3:5 "We have a form of godliness, but denying the power thereof; from such turn away" and that's what the American people have done!
Pastors need to take their time to (personally) meet with the one who is the "Bread of Life" and learn from the master baker how to bake bread! We need to get back to the smell of "fresh baked bread" in our churches as we walk into the sanctuaries on a Sunday morning! Do you remember how your mom baked fresh bread, and the smell permeated throughout the house? In the book of Leviticus 25:8 "Every Sabbath they had to have "fresh bread" to present to God," and that is still true today!
Jesus was born in "Bethlehem" which is called the (House of Bread). People want fresh bread today and that is why churches are not growing and shutting their doors, because people are hungry and are not being fed! When the preachers decide to share the true bread of life, the people will come and enjoy their church!
Ruth 1:14-18 tells the story of how they had a famine in the land and needed bread! There is a famine in our land and we need fresh bread coming from the ovens, with a smell that will draw us to Christ! Pastors have lost the art of how to prepare the bread, which takes kneeding, waiting for the bread to breathe, proper oven temperature, and having patience until the bread is done! Smelling fresh bread in the sanctuaries will give hope to our souls, and what we are about to eat will nourish our souls, and as the Holy Spirit, through the pastor will feed us, his sheep, we will receive his Blessed Hope to live another day!
In Closing: Romans 4:18 "Who against hope, believed in hope." Why do we live in a hopeless nation? Because we use our "own humanistic hope" on what we see in front of us, and when our hopes goes haywire we find ourselves in hopelessness! We don't know the future but when we come to know the "Bread of Life" he will impart in us his hope, then he will give us the confidence we need to live another day! With our government heading down the path of self destruction by going the way of the Romans, Turks, Greeks, and now eight other countries, remember Christ is our only hope!
And to the churches of today, it's my heart's cry, that you will fire up your ovens and get back to making fresh bread again! Then we will be able to say with great hope "Lord give us today our daily bread!"
