Are we a nation of "laws and not of men," a quote sometimes attributed to our second President John Adams? The last four years would indicate "not so much." It seems that the Administration in Washington does not know the difference between our Criminal Law and International Law.
Following are just a few examples of ignoring the laws of this nation by those in power in Washington.
Just like the underwear bomber was.
Let us see how that works! On Nov. 5, 2009, Nidal Hasan, a military officer was in Fort Hood and decided to kill 13 people and wound approximately three dozen. In the process he was yelling "God is great" in Arabic. There were many witnesses.
Here we are, three years later, postponing his military trial again because he does not want his beard shaved. It would violate his religious beliefs! When will we learn? Incidentally, Hasan reportedly is collecting $6,000 monthly salary because he has not yet been found guilty. Our government refuses to call this a terrorist attack. Instead it is called workplace violence. Another disgrace; no Purple Hearts awarded the victims!
Have we seen justice for Khalid Shaikh Mohammed? No trial even though he was the mastermind of the world trade centers tragedy of 9/11/2001.
You might remember that this administration is unable to say "terrorism." Homeland security secretary called terrorist acts, "manmade overseas contingencies."
Our borders are wide open because this government does not choose to enforce our immigration laws.
When the state of Arizona officials tried to enforce the federal law, they were sued by the feds, and forced to abandon the laws passed by their own legislature.
Stonewalling by the Justice Department has prevented our legislative oversight committees to determine who and why the "Fast and Furious" fiasco occurred, whereby hundreds of guns were allowed to "walk" into Mexico to the drug lords. As a result, a border guard was killed with one or more of those guns.
There has been no justice for that family!
If you have seen on TV or read about the recent attacks on embassies, it should be apparent to anyone that the administration is trying to blame everything on things other than Islamic terrorists.
The current administration enforces only the laws they agree with. They routinely ignore the others.
Most recent; the WARN Act which requires employers to give 60 day notices in advance of layoffs. The OMB (Office of Management & Budget) has notified defense contractors to refrain from obeying the law and if litigation ensues, the government will pick up the tab!
It is time for change in Washington.
