The Friedens Lutheran Church is having a Coffee House at 7 p.m March 22 in Friendship Hall.
The entertainment will be provided by The Legacy Trio.
Legacy Trio includes Mary Ann Aikins-Rager's vocals accompanied by the piano styling of Joshua Ben, with Rick Auvil cruising the bottom on bass (and occasionally adding some trumpet and guitar to the mix).
Mary Ann Aikins-Rager is a vocalist who started performing at the age of 5 with her older sisters, The Aikins Sisters, who cut a gospel album in 1982. She ventured into pop-rock during college, then throughout the 80s and early 90s joined Rick Auvil as a member of Spectrum, performing as the house band at the Bedford Springs Festival in the mid-80s, and playing at many entertainment venues such as the Chestnut Ridge Inn, the Lamplighter, a long list of country clubs and many wedding performances. She now sings backup with an originals band, works with a cover band, and performs as a member of Legacy.
Multi-instrumentalist Rick Auvil is a native of Johnstown who taught high school music for 33 years. Auvil has performed with a number of bands and jazz combos since he was in junior high school. He is a section bassist with the Johnstown Symphony Orchestra, and has played for many musical theater productions throughout the area.
His most recent performances include the Fats Waller musical revue, Ain't Misbehavin', the Mountain Playhouse production of Sister Amnesia's Country Western Nunsense Jamboree, and local productions of The Sound of Music, Legally Blonde, South Pacific, and other shows.
Originally from Florida, Joshua Ben moved to Pennsylvania at age 6, where his interest in music began. His mother played piano and was also an opera singer, and his father played guitar. They encouraged his interest in the piano, with an emphasis on jazz. Ben studied at Duquesne, and later, at the University of Pittsburgh.
He is working on releasing a debut album as leader and can be heard regularly at venues throughout the area. He has shared the stage with such notable acts as Lisa Marie Presley, Keller Williams, The Wailers (of Bob Marley Fame) and Rusted Root. His love of the instrument led him to pursue a career as a sales representative for Steinway & Sons Pianos, while continuing to perform throughout the area.
Expect to hear classic tunes such as Crazy, Over The Rainbow and Misty, along with tunes by Elvis Presley, Norah Jones, Barbara Streisand, and other legendary pop performers. They'll also so a little jazz, and play some rock and roll music.
