Ralph L. Miller, 95, Somerset, formerly of Boswell, died March 24, 2013, at In-Touch Hospice House, Somerset. Born July 11, 1917, in Boswell. Son of Jacob F. and Stella (Barton) Miller. Preceded in death by parents, wife of 72 years Florence L. (Berkey) Miller on Jan. 20, 2013, infant daughter Donna Dolores Miller, two infant sisters, an infant brother, brothers William and Charles, and sisters Louise Persuhn, Catherine Fleegle, Margaret Baroni and Beulah Fleegle. Survived by sons Wayne married to Donna (Bird), Madison Heights, Mich., Larry married to Mae (Varner) Hooversville, and Donald married to Ruby (Hoffman), Somerset; grandchildren: Troy, Todd, Tonya, Chadd, Ginger and Patricia; five great-grandchildren and three great-great-grandchildren. A 1934 graduate of Boswell High School. A U.S. Army Air Force veteran of World War II, having served as sergeant with the 672nd Bombardment Squadron, 417th Bombardment Group and 5th Army Air Force as a top turret gunner on an A20 bomber. Member of Boswell Area Historical Society, the Shutterbug Camera Club and the Boswell Church of God, where he served as Sunday school superintendent and teacher, was trustee for many years, clerk and treasurer for six years and also performed mission work. He was also the oldest living member of the Church of God in Pennsylvania. He was a mail carrier and retired pattern maker for former Johnstown Works, U.S. Steel Corp. with 36 years of service. Ralph enjoyed fishing, hunting, golfing, word puzzles, painting and World War II aviation. He was also a volunteer for the Boswell Food Pantry for 19 years. Viewing from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m. Wednesday at Hoffman Funeral Home & Cremation Services, 409 Main Street, Boswell. Viewing also from 10 a.m. until time of service 11 a.m. Thursday at Boswell Church of God with Pastor David McGinnis presiding. Interment Friedens Lutheran Cemetery.
