For the past decade, George Licastro has brought local bands together for an afternoon of diverse bands taking to an outdoor stage.
The tradition will continue on Saturday, Aug. 25 with A Summer Spectacular of Fine Music from 1 to 9 p.m. at Lorain Borough Park. The music starts at 1:30.
Featured bands include Frank Filia Combo, Denise Canby Trio and the Johnstown Classic Rockers.
All bring their own musical styles, Licastro said: Filia sings a lot of Sinatra; Canby and her husband perform on cruise ships; and the Johnstown Classic Rockers specialize in, well, classic rock.
Advanced tickets are $12 and are available by calling 814-266-1107. Tickets at the door will be $15.
The spectacular is moving to Lorain Borough Park, where Licastro said dancing will be easer on the wooden floor of the pavilion rather than on the concrete at Solomon Run, where it has been held in recent years.
Lawn chairs are suggested for the cabaret style event, which is B.Y.O.B.
Licastro said he expects a crowd of about 200.
"It all depends on ticket sales and the weather," he said.
