Danielle Wertz and Marla Aurandt also scored for the Lady Indians. Erin Lischerelli and Wertz had two assists each while Lonas added an assist.
“All of the girls have really stepped it up this year,” head coach Fred Galiote said. “We used some of the younger girls last year and they have the confidence to do even better this year. I’m very pleased with the way they are all performing. They work well together and are very dedicated to playing as a team.”
Sarah Foy scored the lone Lady Rockets goal off an assist from Sam Mognet. Amanda King and Laurel LaLone combined goalkeeping duties.
Rockwood (4-2) plays Windber on Thursday. Conemaugh Township (5-1) hosts Ligonier Valley on Thursday.
NS 7, Berlin 2
BOSWELL — Cheyenne Kuncher scored five minutes into North Star’s 7-2 girls soccer victory over Berlin Tuesday.
Kuncher added a second goal later in the first half. Chantelle Ansell added to her career scoring total with three goals. Chasity Dupont had a goal and two assists for the Lady Cougars. Rachel Druist and Allie Swihura also had assists. Sam Carmean made 10 saves in the win.
Jorden Eutsey scored both of the Lady Mountaineers goals. Marah Riley made 27 saves for Berlin.
“Riley played a wonderful game in goal, making a number of great saves,” North Star head coach Renee Lepley said. “ Our goal is always to score first and keep the momentum in our favor. Our strikers — Druist, Ansell, and Kuncher — did a great job pressuring the Berlin defense all game.”
North Star (6-1) hosts Johnstown Christian on Thursday.
Meyersdale 1, Windber 0
MEYERSDALE — Melanie Beiler scored off an assist from Janelle Long to give Meyersdale a 1-0 victory over Windber on Tuesday in girls varsity soccer.
Goalkeeper Kelli Berkeley recorded the shutout for the Red Raiders, who improved to 2-4.
“Windber played a very good defensive game,” Meyersdale coach Nathan Thomas said. “There’s a lot of respect between the two teams.”
