Lewis E. Eberhart Jr., 85, Smithfield
Street, Bedford, died June 4, 2011, at Altoona Hospital. He was born Sept. 17, 1925, in Confluence, a son of the late Lewis E. Eberhart Sr., and Agnes Romaine (Bowser) Eberhart, Addison. He was preceded in death by a sister, Helen Louise Nicola, Grantsville. On July 4, 1948, in Frostburg, Md., he married Shirley Louise Whetsell, and she survives along with two sons, Gregory Eugene Eberhart, married to the former Teri Koontz and Randall Edgar Eberhart, married to the former Susan Koontz, both of Bedford. Also surviving are two granddaughters, Heather Rose Eberhart, Bedford, and Elicia Marie Eberhart, Chambersburg; and a sister, Gladys Lucille Nicklow, Grantsville, Md. Mr. Eberhart was a World War II
navigator with the Army Air Corps, with the rank of second lieutenant. He retired as a supervisor from Texas Eastern Gas Pipeline Company after 30 years of service. He was a member of the Bedford United Methodist Church. Friends will be received from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m. Tuesday at Timothy A. Berkebile Funeral Home in Bedford, and a half hour prior to the service which will be held at 2 p.m. Wednesday in the chapel of the funeral home with Jim Miller
