Joseph B. Ryniak, 89, Boswell, passed away March 30, 2012, at the In Touch Hospice House, Somerset, surrounded by his loving family after a struggle with cancer. Born Feb. 26, 1923, in Boswell, son of Wojciech and Antonina (Sech) Ryniak. Preceded in death by parents; first wife, former Anne M. Cavallo, on Sept. 3, 1966; sisters, Aniela Zoodie and Stella Felesky; and brothers: Walter, John, Anthony, Francis, William, Stanley and Theodore. Survived by wife of 44 years, former S. Tressa Hahn; sons, Dennis and wife Kathryn, Boswell, and David and wife Bonny, Willow Spring, N.C.; and grandchildren: Tiffany Flynn, Skyler Ryniak and Anthony Ryniak. Also survived by sister-in-law Elizabeth Ryniak, Wayne, N.J.; brothers-in-law, James Hahn, Berlin, and William Hahn, Hooversville; and numerous nieces and nephews, including special niece, Patricia (Hahn) Hostetler, Clearwater, Fla. A 1941 graduate of former Boswell High School. Proud Army Air Corps veteran of World War II, having served as a medic with the rank of corporal while stationed with the 446th Bombardment Group at Flixton Field, Norwich, England. Member of All Saints Catholic Parish and Boswell Post 461 American Legion. Past commander of Hooversville Post 7565 VFW. Retired employee of former Somerset State Hospital. Enjoyed hunting, fishing and traveling. Viewing from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m. Monday at Hoffman Funeral Home and Cremation Services, 409 Main St., Boswell, where vigil for the deceased will be held at 3 p.m. Monday. Funeral Mass at 10:30 a.m. Tuesday at All Saints Church, Boswell, the Rev. Father Justin A. Ratajczak, OFM Conv., celebrant. Committal, St. Stanislaus Cemetery, Boswell, with military rite accorded by Somerset County Honor Guard.
