Hursts celebrate 65 years
Howard ¿¿¿Cap¿¿¿ Hurst and Juanita ¿¿¿Bobbie¿¿¿ Hurst
Howard and the former Juanita Chinault were married Feb. 23, 1946, in Mount Lake Park, Md.
Howard served in World War II as a 1st Sgt. with Co. M 169th Inf. Reg., 43rd Division in combat on the Islands of Guadalcanal, New Georgia, Vella Vella, New Guinea and Luzon. He graduated from Alderson Broaddus College in 1948 then returned to the military again during the Korean War.
The Hursts are both retired. Howard spent 35 years with the B&O and CSX railroad as a captain of police and then trainmaster.
Juanita was manager of Heinrich’s Fashions in Somerset for 15 years. She also worked for Connies’ Closet and George for Her Dress Shop.
The Hursts are members of the Somerset Alliance Church. Howard is also a member of the Somerset VFW.
They are the parents of David, married to former Lydia Sager, Colonial Heights, Va., and Linda, married to William Lasure, Somerset. They have three grandchildren and four great-grandchildren.
The anniversary was celebrated Feb. 22 with a family get together.
