Cory Davis, son of Jeff and Denise Davis, Somerset, and a 2004 graduate of Somerset Area High School, was featured in a piano recital Oct. 29 at the Lutheran Church of the Reformation, East Capitol St., Washington, D.C.
Davis, a pianist and tenor as well as conductor, arranger and composer based in Washington, D.C., graduated summa cum laude from The George Washington University in 2008 with a Bachelor of Arts degree in music. Davis' major concentrations were piano and voice, and he was actively involved in many aspects of the music department, including University Singers, Chamber Singers, Wind Ensemble, the university's orchestra and the newly-formed women's choir, for which he was the accompanist.
Davis is music director of Runnymede Singers, a volunteer chorus. He's performed at Bethesda's Imagination Stage and the Millennium Stage at the John F. Kennedy Center for the Performing Arts. Davis works as project associate at Chorus America, the national service organization for choruses and choral leaders. He is the tenor section leader at Lutheran Church of the Reformation on Capitol Hill, where he also studies piano with the church's director of music and arts.
Davis is planning a local recital for later this year.
