As a rather frequent contributor to the "Letter to the editor" page in the Daily American, I recently became involved in a friendly literary jousting match concerning our country's direction relative to our energy policy (or the lack thereof).
Near the end of my letter of Jan. 20, I mentioned another frequent contributor by the name of Corey Rodgers. I had interpreted Mr. Rodgers remarks as the usual left leaning trashing of a person who had previously criticized President Obama.
On Feb. 4, Corey Rodgers gently admonished me while stating, "Mr. Igou, your letter was composed the way a political commentary is supposed to be written." I will now treasure his remarks. The reason? Mr. Corey Rodgers has been selected as one of 32 Americans to be a Rhodes Scholar for 2012, to study at the University of Oxford in the UK. I did not know I was in a debate with a Rhodes Scholar!
Somerset can be proud of this young man, who seems to have his life headed in directions to "make a difference." I wish him the very best!
