Career Corner: Meet our new vet rep

John was born and raised in Somerset County and graduated from Shade High School in 1985. He became a Marine in September 1985 and retired in September, 2005 as a gunnery sergeant.
His duty stations included Boot Camp at Parris Island, S.C.; MCAS El Toro, Calif.; MCAS Futenma, Okinawa, Japan; Stewart ANG Base, N.Y.; and MCAS Cherry Point, N.C.
He held positions as an airframe mechanic, hydraulic mechanic, NCOIC, quality assurance representative for airframes and powerplants, and quality assurance chief. As a gunnery sergeant, he enjoyed working with and assisting the troops in the day to day issues with military life. During the time John served in the Marine Corps, he was awarded two Navy commendation medals, four Navy achievement medals, two national defense medals and one global war on terrorism service medal.
After his retirement from the Marines, John obtained a bachelor's degree in Secondary Education from the University of Pittsburgh at Johnstown. He was most recently employed at Lockheed Martin Aeroparts as an assembler. John is married and has a young son.
He brings a great deal of knowledge of veterans programs and a determination as a veterans representative to provide the best services that he can to his follow veterans. He says helping people is what it's all about.
