Following a lengthy illness, Audrey Carol Shaulis Thomas, 72, Somerset, passed away early Wednesday, Feb. 16, 2011, at the Somerset In Touch Hospice House. Audrey was born Aug. 15, 1938, in Somerset, to Lester and May Shaulis. She is a 1956 graduate of Somerset High. She married Gerald Charles Thomas
, also of Somerset, on Jan. 11, 1960. They enjoyed 51 years of married life together and had one son, Terry Neil Thomas. In 1974 they moved from Pennsylvania to southern California. They lived there for 16 years before retiring and moving to Wyoming in 1990. After 18 years in the “wild west” they returned “home” to Somerset in 2008. Throughout the years Audrey enjoyed spending time with her family and numerous friends. Audrey liked arts and crafts, playing bingo, doing puzzles and traveling. Audrey is survived by her husband of 51 years, Gerald of Somerset; son Terry and his wife Cyndi, Cheyenne, Wyo.; grandchildren: Heather and Frank, Jerome, Mich.; stepgrandchildren: Eric, Logan and Abby, Casper, Wyo.; great-granddaughter RyAnn, Jerome, Mich.; siblings: Lois, Elwood (Woody), John, Mary Jane, Don, Gail and Tim, all of the Somerset area; stepsister Ester, Arizona; numerous uncles, aunts, nephews, nieces, cousins and in-laws. Audrey was predeceased by her parents, Lester and May; stepmother Bessie; brothers: Ken and Jimmy. A very special thank you from Audrey’s family is extended to Elwood and Doloros Day and Ed and Cindy Swank and families for all they have done in helping to care for Audrey. Cremation has been arranged through Miller Funeral Home and Crematory. At Audrey’s request, no services are planned at this time.
