Sharon Ackerman, Somerset County register of wills, has been appointed to the board of directors of the Pennsylvania eHealth Partnership Authority.
The authority, established through legislation approved in July, is charged with creating the ability for medical providers to securely exchange medical information electronically.
"As a county row officer and someone who is deeply active in her community, Sharon will bring an important perspective about how health information exchange will impact consumers of health care," Alix Goss, the authority's program director, said in a written release. "I look forward to working with her and the rest of the board to improve health care in Pennsylvania."
Ackerman is one of 15 board members. She was elected register of wills in 2003. She is president of the Registers of Wills and Clerks of Orphans' Courts Association of Pennsylvania. Earlier this year, the Meyersdale Merchants Association named her Individual of the Year for her community service.
