Charges against an 18-year-old Somerset man were withdrawn by District Attorney Lisa Lazzari-Strasiser Friday at his preliminary hearing before Somerset District Judge Ken Johnson.
Tyler Joel Zelenske, 18, Stoy Road, is charged by state police with statutory rape in an incident that involved a 13-year-old girl.
Initially, Zelenske was charged with rape, sexual assault, statutory sexual assault, three counts of aggravated indecent assault, corruption of minors, indecent exposure and three counts of indecent assault.
The incident happened at a residence in Somerset Township on March 16, according to a probable-cause affidavit. Zelenske was at that residence in the company of the girl and several other juveniles.
State police said Zelenske and the girl were kissing. She became uncomfortable and stopped. Zelenske asked her several times to have intercourse with him and she refused. He is accused of then using force to hold her down and to sexually assault her, police said.
Zelenske is free on a $50,000 unsecured bond.
