The following items were taken from police reports:
•Police investigating a delayed report of a residential burglary in the 100 block of West 2nd Street on Aug. 16 found controlled substances in the bedroom closet. After lab analysis of the substances, which included cannabis, LSD, mushrooms and ecstasy pills along with drug paraphernalia, a warrant was issued for the suspect's arrest on charges of possession and possession with intent to deliver. The suspect, a 23-year-old Hinsdale man, turned himself in.
•A 24-year-old Western Springs man who fell asleep at the wheel of his vehicle Aug. 18 in the drive-through lane of McDonald's, 935 N. York Road, was found to be driving under the influence of alcohol.
•Police charged a 28-year-old La Grange woman with driving under the influence of alcohol Aug. 16 after she was pulled over near Ogden Avenue and Illinois Route 83 for improper lane usage and following too closely. Although she refused to submit a breath test, she was charged and released to appear in court.
•A resident in the 0-100 block of Spinning Wheel Road reported that someone tried unsuccessfully to break into her car the evening of Aug. 13 by using a wire she found wedged in her car door.
•A yellow Freightliner Century truck was reported stolen from a lot in the 800 block of North Industrial Drive on Aug. 22 after it had been parked there the previous evening. The trailer it was coupled to was left, but another trailer was also missing from the site.
•A 22-year-old Bensenville man was arrested Aug. 23 after he was caught stealing from Kohl's, 303 S. Illinois Route 83. He admitted to taking two pairs of Nike gym shorts worth about $55.
•Two women were charged with retail theft Aug. 22 after they left Kmart, 265 S. Illinois Route 83, with $86 worth of clothing they had concealed and not paid for. The two, a 22-year-old from Bellwood and a 21-year-old from Minnesota, were taken to the police station for processing before being released on bond.
•After an Aug. 21 traffic stop in a seatbelt-enforcement zone near Melrose and North avenues, a 25-year-old Chicago man who was a passenger in the vehicle was found to be in possession of drug paraphernalia.
•An Elmhurst College student, 19, of California, was charged with possession of cannabis and drug paraphernalia after college security found the materials in his dorm room and called Elmhurst police Aug. 21.
•Police responding to a soliciting complaint Aug. 21 in the 400 block of Kenilworth Avenue learned that the solicitor, a 38-year-old Georgia man, was wanted on two warrants, one from DuPage County and one from Indiana. He was unable to post bond and was taken to DuPage County Jail.
•A resident in the 500 block of South Prospect Avenue reported Aug. 21 that someone stole his 1987 white Honda 150cc motor scooter from where it was parked alongside his garage.
•A resident in the 600 block of West St. Charles Road reported Aug. 20 that someone broke the passenger-side rear window of his car and stole a computer bag containing a Sony Vaio laptop computer and related gear with a total value of $1,150.
